God as the SOURCE of our Blessings

Psalm 146: 5 “Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God.”

Everyone wants to be blessed. It is a natural human desire and it is right to want it. But people have different ways of measuring what it means to be blessed. Some think that having a good job is a blessing, or being well educated, prospering in business or any other human endeavor. While it is not wrong to think that way and certainly that is part of God’s blessing, the greatest blessing of all is to know God and to trust him at all times. 

Everything in this life will come and go. They are all temporary. But a relationship with God in a personal and intimate way is a sure guarantee for blessings now and into your eternity. The psalmist declares this in Psalm 121: 1 “I lift up my eyes to the hills– where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” We must cultivate the discipline of trusting the LORD in everything, and not trusting in ourselves or our own abilities and understanding (Proverbs 3: 5-6). When we acknowledge God as the SOURCE of our blessings, we will always give him the glory when we feel we are blessed.

Jeremiah 17: 7 echoes the same sentiment, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.” Put your hope in God, trust him at all times, and give him the glory for everything.

I pray that today will be a day of great blessings as you look to the LORD your Source! Remember, He is the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12: 2).
