We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight

Psalm 149: 4-6 “For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,”

This is another psalm that focuses on the necessity and power of praise for believers. God is delighted when we praise him. Praising God at all times is an expression of our trust and hope in him to carry us through even in the most trying and difficult moments of our lives. Even when things do not make sense, choose to praise him anyway. That’s when our praise goes up to God like a sweet-smelling sacrifice that he just delights in.

When you are overwhelmed by the pressures of this world and it seems like you are stepping on a cliff with nowhere else to go, that is just the right time to focus on God and praise him. It is not about your feeling or what your natural senses are telling you but a choice you make out of faith. “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5: 7).

Praising God when things are not going right with you confuses the devil and all the powers of darkness. Praise weakens every attempt of the devil to knock you down and only energizes your spirit to trust God more even when you do not understand what is going on. Why? Praise is like having a double-edged sword in your hands. Praise gets your focus off yourself and your circumstances, and back on God.

Praise humbles us! It drives us to our knees and elevates our spirit to the spiritual realm where God is. It shows our dependency is on God himself and nothing else. When we humble ourselves, we can then resist the devil and he will flee from us (James 4: 7).

Are you feeling tired, weary, burdened, confused, and cornered? Choose to praise God! Praisers know that their Lion of the Tribe of Judah is the real thing and He has already overcome every single enemy that may come in their path.
