Are You Prepared?

Ecclesiastes 3: 11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

This is one of the most famous chapters of the Bible because of its focus on ‘Time.’ “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens” (verse 1). Time is a precious commodity that no one can control or manage. The old axiom, ‘Time and tide wait for no man’ is absolutely correct. 

We can only manage ourselves in the use of time. We cannot manage time because we cannot control it. It does not wait for anybody. We cannot change it or delay it. Just as we cannot control the timing of most events in life, the least we can do is recognize it. God made everything appropriate in its time. Our alignment with God’s timing makes a great difference. It is our responsibility to accept and cooperate with God’s timing.

While everything on earth has a time frame or season, eternity is different. It is FOREVER! There is no time frame for it. God has planted eternity in the human heart. That’s why no human being wants to die. There is a longing inside us for immortality.  We have a craving to live forever because God made us to be eternal beings. He did not want us to die. But death came our way because of sin, which was our choice. Sin and death were not God’s choices for us.

Life on earth is just for a season. There is a time to die. Friends, accept that and prepare for it! You may not want it but death will come. But death, for a believer, is not a termination. It is just a transition into your eternity. Are you prepared for it? That’s a question for you to ponder today!
